Helping Children Grow To Their Full Potential

Psychologists See children for help with learning, behaviour, emotions or mental health. You might be wondering whether taking your child to a psychologist would be helpful or feel unsure if what’s happening for your child is just a stage of growing up. You don’t need a referral to bring your child to see one of our psychologists, but you can discuss your concerns with your GP to determine if psychological therapy would be helpful.

Some indicators that seeking psychological support may assist your child are:

  • You notice changes in their mood or confidence
  • Following a difficult event that has led to changes in your child’s emotions
  • Persistent difficulties with behaviour
  • Withdrawal from age-appropriate activities such as friends, sports, school
  • Emotional distress over a period of time

We are here to work with the child and their parents to understand each child’s unique strengths and challenges, provide evidenced based therapy to support, change, and assist parents in how to effectively respond.

Our warm and experienced psychologists provide evidenced-based therapy for a broad range of presenting problems including:

  • Anxiety: General feelings of worry, specific fears, panic attacks, obsessions and compulsions (OCD), social anxiety, and phobias
  • Mood disruption: low mood, depressive symptoms, irritability & rapid mood shifts
  • Stress e.g., difficult relationships with family or friends, or stress due to academic or other performance
  • Adjustment difficulties: coping with significant change and may include family difficulties and hardship, loss of a loved one, frightening childhood experiences
  • Exposure to trauma: one-off or accumulative stressful life events or exposure to fearful or life-threatening situations
  • Low self-esteem
  • Anger management
  • Difficulties with emotional regulation
  • Behavioural problems
  • Bullying
  • School refusal
  • Conduct disorder
